Deregulation of Natural Gas in Georgia began officially on July 1, 1998. Deregulation is exclusive to Atlanta Gas Light Company’s service area. AGLC distributes and stores natural gas with it’s facilities and pipelines while Marketers sell services in the AGLC service area.
Lower rates, better promotions, and better service were among the reasons for the deregulation of Atlanta Natural Gas. It appears to have worked, there are many advertisements with competitive rates and promotions. In fact, one of the best ways to get up to date information about promotions is through the advertisements you may see on this site. Credits or savings of $40 to $50 are somewhat commonplace. It may save money to change providers or marketers every year. You can change once a year without paying any transfer fees, otherwise it may cost $7. 50 to change from one company to another.
